The New Apple Ipad

Today, Apple unveiled it’s latest addition to the world of mobile technology with the iPad. This is the much hyped table computer that has been the source of many a rumor for several months now, and searching the Keynote presentation form Apple CEO Steve Jobs, I think it may have taken most people by surprise at what this device is really capable of.

Based around the design of the iPod touch and the latest MacBook Pro’s, the iPad is a mere 0.5 inch thin, with a 9.7 inch IPS display, and weighs in at a mere 1.5 pounds. This means that even though the display will drain the battery a little quicker, it will be brighter and provide a much wider angle of view to the user. The battery on the new iPad has been planned to last up to 10 hours of continuous use, so the issue of battery life becomes insignificant.

The main element of the iPad is of course its touch screen capabilities. This is the first fully touch-screen tablet-style device made by Apple and they have in fact pulled out all the stops with it. Making use of full capacitive multi-touch technology, one, two and three finger gestures open up a whole new world of communication for the user. Like with their MacBook Pro range, the iPad can automatically sense if it is being held in a portrait or landscape position and orientate the image on the screen to suit.
